Since 1980 I have been involved in some kind of art form. I had a studio making large ceramic coiled and smoke fired pots. 5 years ago I became interested in mosaics. My garden was my project. I made a mosaic wall and pond with mosaic. Last year it was featured in the Sunday Mirror and this year again in Women's Weekly magazine. I have always loved patchwork and somehow it relates to mosaic work. They are both concerned with creating order and harmony from chaos. Breaking up crockery or cutting up fabric and piecing them together again. I take great pleasure in seeking out unusual and interesting fabrics for the patches, which I source from many different places. Some from retro shops (dresses, shirts etc) others from places as far away as the USA. All the backings are individual. I mostly use good quality wool fabric, though some are of a lighter weight cotton fabric. They can be used over sofas, chairs and beds or anywhere you want to add a touch of colour and joyfulness.
